Anthropic just put Claude Cowork on mobile. Two days later OpenAI merged Codex into ChatGPT and launching ChatGPT Work.

My take on why the OpenAI vs Anthropic app race is their fight to win, not yours, and why picking one tool and actually using it for 90 days beats a long platform evaluation.

Anthropic just put Claude Cowork on mobile, so a task can start on your laptop and you can check it from your phone. Two days later OpenAI answered by merging Codex into ChatGPT and launching ChatGPT Work. Every one of these companies wants to be the single app you run your whole day through.

People are going to ask me this week which one to standardize on. I’d start with a different question.

Those companies are competing to be the one app you run everything through. You don’t have to pick a side in that competition. Pick for how your team works today, and let the question of who owns the category in two years sort itself out later.

I’ve watched distributors spend months evaluating platforms while a competitor down the road picked something, started using it, and had three months of real momentum before the evaluation ever wrapped.

So pick one and give it a real 90 days before you decide whether to switch. The tool you choose matters far less than whether your team actually uses it. If you’ve rolled one of these tools out to your team this year, I’d love to know what made it stick.
