Companies use less than five percent of the data they collect. For chemical distributors, I would bet that number is even lower.

Most companies use less than five percent of the data they collect, and I'd bet chemical distributors are even lower than that. Every sales order, purchase, and inventory adjustment is a data point sitting there, and the only thing missing is the decision to start using it.

I keep hearing the same thing: we know we have data, we just don’t know what to do with it. Every sales order, every purchase, every inventory adjustment is a data point waiting to tell you something about your business.

The tools to analyze all of it are more accessible and affordable than ever. The cost of computing (i.e. “thinking”) is essentially free. The only thing missing is the decision to start.
