I have stared at a page of my own lab results and understood almost none of it.
AI is becoming less in-your-face and more operating in the background. Using it as a tool to alleviate your customer's pain points can make it easier to do business with you. Labcorp uses it to let you interact with your lab results, without waiting for a doctor.
I have stared at a page of my own lab results and understood almost none of it.
This month that quietly changed, and not in the place you would expect.
Labcorp launched an app, MyLabcorp, that runs on OpenAI’s reasoning models and lets you chat with your own results in plain language and watch your trends over time. The bloodwork explains itself now.
Same stretch, California signed a deal with Anthropic to put Claude across state agencies at a 50% discount. The DMV is already using it to cut wait times.
I bring this up because our industry keeps waiting for AI to feel relevant. It just walked into the doctor’s office and the DMV. Two places nobody would ever call early adopters.
Here is the pattern I keep seeing. AI is not winning by doing something flashy. It is winning by taking a confusing, painful, human process and making it simple. Lab results. License renewals. The stuff people dread.
Now look at your own customers. Where do they dread dealing with you? The credit application. The SDS request. The “where is my order” call. That is your MyLabcorp.
We sell chemicals and manage data. The distributor who makes the painful stuff simple is the one people will want to buy from.
Where does your customer experience still feel like the old DMV line? I would love the honest answer.
