I run my consulting business with a staff I never pay.
How Pete Messina runs a consulting business with a crew of AI agents, and what it shows about AI for a small operation.
I run my consulting business with a staff I never pay.
My CEO briefs me every morning, a reporter who scans AI news and hands me the stories that matter, a CRM manager who tells me who to follow up with, and a writer who keeps everything sounding like me. None of them are people. They are AI agents I built, each with one job. Of course, I have the ultimate sign-off for everything generated, but it saves a LOT of time.
This is not a theory. It’s how I run the business. It is how my work actually gets done. When a distributor asks what AI can really do for a small operation, I do not point at a tool. I point at how I run my own company with a handful of agents doing the work a few hires used to.
You do not need a big team to act like you have one. You need to decide which jobs a machine can do and start delegating. Perfection is not the goal.
If you could hand one role in your business to a tireless assistant tomorrow, which would it be?
